- Training is an activity of teaching seafarers of particular skill, type of behavior or specifically how to do a particular job more effectively and efficiently. It involves acquiring new skills or education.
- Training of all newly joined seafarers are conducted in a phased manner without affecting vessel’s operations. The training shall be divided into three stages as given below:
a) Emergency instructions to be given to all persons newly joining the ship.
b) Immediate and necessary instructions which must be given to watch keeping officers and ratings prior to sailing from port.
c) Operational instructions to management level and operational level personnel which must be given as early as possible.
